Jane McGonigal, PhD and game designer, asserts in her book Reality is Broken that games make the world better. In a recent speaking engagement, McGonigal said that as children progress through school, they become less and less engaged: 76% in elementary, 61% in middle, and 44% in high school. She also said that 81% of global workers are not engaged. Gamers, when playing a game, have an extremely high level of engagement. She says gamers spend 80% of their time failing, but they continue to play the game in an effort to reach their goal. Games have the potential to change the world. Do you agree?
